DARE Tender projects

Calls for tender have been put out so as to promote and maintain the uploading of scientific/scholarly research material to the repositories. The projects involve services or assistance for scientists/scholars that directly benefit their work. Supplying research results to their institution's repository is important and therefore needs to be easy and worthwhile.
A total of 23 projects have been carried out:

  • ARNEX* The Agricultural Repository News Exchange draws attention to the results of agricultural research.
  • Connecting Africa* : Connecting Africa is a pilot service for African Studies in the Netherlands and the result of the DARE?? project. The service comprises information about African studies experts associated with a large number of different university organisations in the Netherlands, together with details of their publications. It provides access via the Leiden repository to the digital versions of publications by the African Studies Centre.
  • DARELUX* (Data Archiving River Environment LUXemburg) is an important step on the way towards permanent storage of scientific data.
  • DARLIN* (Dutch ARchive for Library and INformation sciences) provides access to Dutch publications in the field of library and information science. It is linked to the DARLIN journal, an open access multimedia journal containing material that has not previously been made available.
  • DONOR* (the Dutch abbreviation for "data educational Netherlands online research") provides online access to research files of data on education.
  • e-Depot for Dutch Archaeology (eDNA)* This comprises a selection of digital research results produced by Dutch archaeologists.
    Knowledge Bank for Universities of Applied Sciences: This was set up to make it easier to trace and access knowledge products generated at Dutch universities of applied sciences. It makes the large quantity of knowledge generated by students, teaching staff, and "lectors" (who organise knowledge networks) available to a worldwide public.
  • NARCIS* : the central collection point for Dutch research information. This portal provides searchable access to full-text publications and information on research activities, scientific/scholarly institutes, researchers, and datasets.
  • PROMAS* : PROMAS provides efficient, long-term and professional profiling of scientists, scholars, and institutes for all stakeholders.
  • SCHOLAR(s) Economic Community* : This website brings together researchers in the field of training and labour economics.
    Theses Online* : This project is the start of a searchable national database for student graduation theses, categorised according to scientific/scholarly discipline.
  • Text Enriched in Virtual Communities* : This allows documents to be easily enriched and revised with annotations.
  • Truth or DARE/ Utrecht Law Review* : The Utrecht Law Review was set up so as to encourage legal scholars to use the repository for digital publications. Dynamic pages for staff have also been developed and the copyright problem investigated.
  • VetPortal* : VetPortal personalises veterinary medicine with a portal to and for the user and relevant veterinary information.
    The periodical Vaderlandsche Letteroefeningen and Women Writers: This project displays research on literary history, supported by databases and annotation tools.
